Materials:
Any worksheet: sight words, phonics, variations, fluency
Plastic sheet to protect worksheet (optional)
Dry marker pen (optional)
Note: Each of the words and/or sounds was introduced in the current lesson or in a previous lesson.
Purpose:
The purpose of this activity is to build up the student's vocabulary.
Methods:
Describe: In this method, the coach or student should use words or phrases to describe the targeted word.
Context: In this method, the coach or student should use the targeted word in a sentence.
Activities:
Using any of the worksheets, have the student select two words that they feel confident in defining the word with either or both methods above. Once the words are selected, have the student define the words.

Many of the words in each lesson are familiar to the coach. However, some words may not be part of every day speech. Don't be afraid of saying, "I don't know about this word" But, this would be a great opportunity to introduce the use of a dictionary. A great learning opportunity for both the student and the coach.
